FA Womens Cup Final Nottingham Forest FC On Monday 7th May 20 members of TA gave up their bank holiday to perform at the FA Womens Cup Final in Nottingham Forest. Televised live on BBC One the members entertained the largest ever FA Womens cup final crowd of 24,500 football fans. This was also the biggest ever crowd TA have performed in front of!!!!!! It was an early start to the day, leaving essex at 6.50am and travelling 2.5 hours non stop to Nottingham Forest FC. On arrival we were met by the events company and already in costume the members quietly (i know, shocking!) made their way to the football pitch to rehearse. Stepping over the freshly painted lines we set up and rehearsed, with Kens voice echoing through the huge empty stands. By now some of the younger members were getting very excited about seeing 'Jay', no not our Jay, but a CBBC presenter who was going to be presenting todays event and was already on the pitch watching us rehearse!!! After a short practise we headed off to macdonalds, where the members were very shocked to see me handing out £20 notes to them to buy food with!!!! By now the weather had clouded over and it was starting to rain, yep you could tell we were up north!! at 12.20pm we were escorted round to our enterance point and anxiously awaited the commentator to announce us on to the pitch. All wearing white linen trousers and bare feet, we were praying the rain would hold off for us, and we were also praying we would be able to hear the music come in! The stands were getting very loud as the excited spectators geared their vocal chords up for the game. At exactly 12.43 you could just about hear us being announced over the huge and very loud crowds. We run on to the pitch ready to start. The music could just be heard in the background, though the crowds could hear it better than we could. The members concentrated and worked together and we kept the routine going in time. As we slammed down our flags at the end we heard the crowd erupt into a massive cheer, as the members all stood their smiling in the light rain shower!!!!! The final duty for TA was for 10 members to line up to present a guard of honour for the football players as they entered the pitch. Emma J, Emma C, Lucy S, Lucy G, Charlotte, Leighanne, Laura R, Laura S, Lara & Aimee were selected and stood very professionally throughout. Our work was over and all that was left for us to do was take our seats in the stands and enjoy the womens football as Arsenal worked their way to victory winning 4-1 to Charlton. The game ended with confetti cannons as Arsenal lifted the FA Womens Cup. It took us an hour to get out of the car park after the game, but this did allow the younger members time to get autographs from Jay as he left the venue!!! I'd like to thank all the members who have trained for this event (and those who were unfortunately too ill to perform but still trained hard). You were all very proffesional on the day and i hope you enjoyed your first none competitve performance in front of such a huge crowd! We will be performing this routine at various events this year, so please read the schedules posted on the site for more information. Rehearsals start back on Saturday 12th May for our theatre performances.
