Cadets star in '12 days of Christmas' show Our newest group of young members made their first public appearance last week, at the '12 days of christmas' theatre show produced by Thurrock council. The show includes stars and dancers from the most recent west end musicals, and show cases a few different performances from local community groups each day. The Academy were honoured to be asked to perform at this event, and our cadets stood up to the role and performed their 2008 show called 'Wishes'.
The members got to spend the day at the Tilbury Port which has been converted into a spectacular christmas theatre for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. They performed in the matinee performance on Friday 7th December, to a full audience. In their own private changing room they watched the first half of the show being played on their flat screen tv, whilst getting ready and adding the final touches (tinsel and all the trimmings!!!).
Finally they were ready to perform mid way through the 2nd act, and waited back stage eagerly, and with a few nerves! The stage was surrounded by giant white xmas tree cut outs, and the lights were spectacular. The young members took their places on stage in the dark as they were announced on. Their music started and smiling they performed their little hearts out, clearly enjoying every minute of it. The audience were very appreciative of their performance and rewarded them with a good cheer at the end.
At the end of the show the members were lead back on to stage, by Toni and Kim, with their christmas hats on (supplied by Thurrock council) and joined all the other young performers from local schools and community groups for the finale. Father Christmas joined them for a final sing song, as snow sprinkled down on the stage... It was great for the cadets to be part of such a special production, and show that even at 5yrs old colourguard is great on the stage too!
Cadets, thank you for a great performance, we're all very proud of you and cant wait to see you in costumes competing this season
